Book a counseling session with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation’s counseling consultant, Shannon Barlow, during your time at the ASF Family Conference. Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 20+ years of experience working with individuals, families, and children/ adolescents. Dr. Colin Muething, Ph.D., BCBA-D, from Emory University School of Medicine serves as Program Director of the Complex Behavior Support Program, one of a handful of programs of its kind. Dr. Chris Keary works with families to develop treatment plans addressing behavioral and mental health concerns in patients with Angelman Syndrome at the MGH Angelman Syndrome Clinic in Boston. Schedule a consult with Dr. Keary on Wednesday, July 24 or Thursday, July 25 at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. Limited spaces available.

Separation Anxiety Small Group

Join a small group with Dr. Chris Keary and a group of your peers to discuss struggles with separation anxiety. Dr. Keary will guide the discussion and help navigate solutions and management techniques. Limited spaces available.

Insurance, Waivers, and Resource Consult

Eric Wright, LCSW supports community members in navigating private insurance, government programs, and the supports set up nationally and locally for individuals with Angelman syndrome. Consult with Eric on advocating for better coverage and what to do when facing rejection.

IEP Consult

Visit the IEP Table at the ASF Family Conference exhibitor fair to meet with the ASF’s educational programming experts. Staci Zimmerman, M.Ed., and Michelle Martin, M.Ed. will be presenting during the exhibitor fair to help review IEPs and related documents, brainstorm IEP goals, troubleshoot any pain points you may have in your services, and promote further inclusion in school.

Diet Small Group: Managing Hyperphagia and Weight

Come for a small group session to discuss hyperphagia and weight management for your loved one who lives with Angelman Syndrome. Heidi Pfeifer is a registered dietitian with 25+ years of experience and has published dietary management in Angelman syndrome. Limited spaces available.

Diet Therapy Small Group (LGIT & KETO)

Would you like to dive deeper into using diet as a way to manage epilepsy? Are you already using a LGIT/Ketogenic Diet and wondering if you are doing it right?

Come for a small group session to discuss using diet therapy for your loved one who lives with Angelman Syndrome and epilepsy. Limited spaces available.

Heidi Pfeifer is a registered dietitian with 25+ years of experience working with the ketogenic diet. During that time she changed the way that dietary therapy has been implemented by developing the Low Glycemic Index Treatment as an alternative to the classic ketogenic diet.

AAC Working Group: Add Variety to Every Interaction

Join Tabi and Rachael, co-creators of Stepping Into AAC, for a hands-on workshop focusing on the various purposes or reasons why an individual communicates. This small group, filled with your peers, will give you tangible and actionable AAC practices as well as “mini-goals” to take home. Review communicative functions such as: Requesting, Rejecting, Greetings, Expressing Feelings, and more. Limited to 20 participants.

AAC Working Group: Finding balance in communication

Join Tabi and Rachael, co-creators of Stepping Into AAC, for a hands-on workshop on balancing variety and repetition for optimal engagement and learning. This small group, filled with your peers, will give you tangible and actionable AAC practices as well as “mini-goals” to take home. Discover why repetition and variety are both important and require balance. Limited to 20 participants.
