Shannon Barlow

Shannon is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, families, children/adolescents and groups.

Shannon received a BA in Psychology and a MA in Education with a concentration in Community Mental Health Services from DePaul University. She has extensive training and experience in person centered techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and crisis intervention.

She has been working with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation for almost four years, and feels honored to be a part of such an esteemed group of individuals. Although not a parent of a child with AS herself, she is the mother of a child with Leukemia, and knows all too well the trauma associated with diagnosis day, lengthy hospital stays, and juggling basic life needs while caring for a medically fragile child.

Her areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, grief, special needs parenting, trauma/abuse, crisis intervention counseling, self-esteem issues, stress management, and children/adolescent issues.
