Ryan Butler, PhD

In 2009, I graduated with a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the National University of Ireland, Galway. In my current position as an Assistant Professor in the departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at UT Southwestern Medical Center, I have developed my own line of research towards the development of genetic therapies for rare diseases including Angelman Syndrome. I have active collaborations with several foundation partners to bring gene therapies to the clinic including the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, Foundation for Prader-Willi Research, Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders and Project CASK. I have also worked with Taysha Gene Therapies, Inc. since their inception to develop AAV gene therapies. I envision that this “platform-based” approach will lead to highly effective treatments for several neurogenetic disorders.
