Kelly Piacenti is responsible for the MassMutual SpecialCare program which includes nearly five hundred Special Care Planners1. She also oversees partnerships between MassMutual and the largest special needs non-profit organizations across the country; including, but not limited to: The Arc, Autism Society, Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA), National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC), Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, and United Cerebral Palsy (UCP).
Kelly serves on the National Board of Directors for UCP and formerly on the National Board of The Arc for 8 years until 2020. She also serves on the Advisory Board for The Academy of Special Needs Planners, as well as The American College Center for Special Needs. And formerly appointed as Chair of MassMutual’s ADAPT Business Resource Group whose mission is to help the company include, reach, and serve the disability community.
She has spoken at dozens of industry conferences across the country and has been featured as a speaker on several radio talk show programs and podcasts. Kelly is also published and quoted in numerous industry publications for the special needs community. In April 2024, United Cerebral Palsy awarded Kelly as the recipient of their annual Chair Award. The award is presented to an individual who has been distinctly supportive of UCP by providing volunteer leadership and/or other contributions that advance UCP’s mission and vision. In May 2017, Kelly was awarded the annual Theresa Award by the Theresa Foundation for her outstanding community service and advocacy on behalf of people with special needs. And in the fall of 2015, Kelly was awarded the distinction by “Working Mother” magazine, as a “Working Mother of the Year” in their “100 Best Companies” featured article.
She has worked with MassMutual since July of 2016. Before joining MassMutual, she led the MetLife Center for Special Needs Planning, where she was employed from 1991 through 2016. Kelly holds her Master’s degree and resides in Chester, New Jersey with her husband and children. She was the mother of a child with special needs for 19 years, and possesses the knowledge, insight, and empathy to act as a mentor and resource for families facing similar challenges.
