Matt Judson received his doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University, where he trained in the laboratory of Pat Levitt, exploring the expression and function of the risk genes associated with autism spectrum disorder. He conducted his postdoctoral research with Ben Philpot, applying whole-cell electrophysiology approaches to the study of excitatory/inhibitory circuit coordination in Angelman syndrome mouse models. He continues to serve in the Philpot laboratory as a Research Assistant Professor and is actively investigating a gene therapy for Angelman syndrome as well as novel mouse models for Dup15q syndrome.
